Turriff recognises the value and importance of providing opportunities to all staff, to develop their job-related knowledge and skills.

By increasing their individual effectiveness, they will make a richer contribution to the work of their department in support of Turriff's aims and objectives. Furthermore, it recognises that it has a responsibility to encourage and support learning.

Turriff endeavour to develop their staff throughout the company in an effort to maximise their full potential. This allows Turriff Contractors to maintain their high standards of service as demanded by our clients.

It is Turriff's policy to provide development and training this ensures the implementation of Company policies designed to meet its obligations as an employer.

Turriff provide Health and Safety training for all staff new to the company, to ensure that they understand their responsibilities in the workplace.

The company provides and supports further development and training when required to maintain and enhance the standards of performance over a period of time.

Turriff expects its Managers and Supervisors:

• to monitor and identify, by means of appraisal and other review procedures, areas of their work which could be assisted by training and development activities
• to develop a training and development strategy in support of departmental aims and objectives
• to undertake or support staff development and training activities in order to achieve its objectives.

Turriff seeks to promote staff development and training by:

• providing a central programme of in-house development and training activities and in-house or external consultancy to all staff.
• maintaining structures and mechanisms for identifying training needs and monitoring the effectiveness of training
• seeking external funding and support for development and training activities
• assisting members of staff on approved courses where appropriate with financial support and/or time off.
• Ensuring all operational staff are trained on accredited NVQ courses.

Last year Turriff delivered over 5000 technical training days to our employees by means of internal and external training providers.

Turriff in conjunction with develop operate a specialist industry facility at our Falkirk depot, which includes New Roads & Street Works (NRSWA), electrofusion, service laying, main laying and fully equipped classroom & practical training facilities. Turriff are currently looking towards using interactive technology in this training facility which can be adapted to the individual needs of each candidate.

An additional training facility is in place at our Aberdeen depot.
