Gas - New Build & Connections

Gas was the first of the utility sectors to be truly opened up to competition. Mains laying, service pipework, connections and meter installation on new sites have already been contestable activities for several years.

Turriff has installed new gas infrastructure on sites throughout Scotland for gas transporters and developers. All of Turriff's gas operatives are Energy and Utility Skills Council (EUS) registered for mains laying, service pipework, and ancillary activities. The company has a fully integrated training programme - delivered through the Turriff College - which has been fundamental to its ability to successfully grow and compete.

The quality and safety of work on the gas network is absolutely critical. GIRS (Gas Industry Registration Scheme) accreditation for contractors has been introduced by the gas industry to ensure that quality and safety standards remain paramount in the competitive market.

As water and electricity markets have been liberalised, some developers have adopted a 'multi-utility' strategy with all their utility infrastructure designed and installed by a single contractor. To find out more about Turriff's multi-utility capabilities click here.
